Church Staff Rev. Roger Madden, Senior Pastor e-mail: screvrog@msn.com Pastor Roger came to First UMC in 2003. He has been a pastor in Iowa since 1987 and served 6 years at First UMC in Fort Dodge as the Associate Pastor and then 10 years in Shenandoah as the sole pastor. Roger is a caring and enthusiastic minister who communicates with young and old alike. His biblical messages relate to the pressures and day to day problems we all encounter. Roger is a graduate of Morningside College here in Sioux City, majoring in Business Administration, which has helped him a lot in the "business" of church. When Roger is not at the church, he swims, bicycles, rollerblades, plays golf, lifts weights, and loves spending time with his wife of 22 years, Amy, and their two daughters, Elizabeth (18) and Christine (16).  Rose Rodriguez, Children's Education Coordinator e-mail: fumcrose@q.com Rose began as our Education Coordinator in November of 2007. Rose, along with her husband Luis, have been very active members here at First UMC and her experiences makes us excited to have her in ministry with us. She was the Pre-School Director at a preschool ran by her church when the Rodriguez’s lived in Raytown, Missouri (a suburb of Kansas City) from 1998 through 2004. This included planning curriculum, recruiting staff and volunteers, dealing with budgets, and organizing activities and missions with the church and community. She also helped to design, coordinate and run a Rotation Model Sunday School. Since moving to Sioux City in 2006, she has been active in our Christian Education program, including being an integral part in working with Brenda (our former Education Coordinator) in designing and beginning our Sunday Rotation Sunday School program here as well as substituting for Brenda in Clue’s Club. They are the proud parents of four girls: Mariah (age 16), Selena (14), Isabella (8) & Adrianna (6).  Benjamin Taylor, Middle School Youth Director e-mail: Benjamin.Taylor@briarcliff.edu Benjamin (Ben) is in ministry with our 6, 7 & 8 graders each Wednesday evening from 6ish-7ish. He is a United Methodist from Mason City. He is currently a sophomore at Briar Cliff College, where he is majoring in Secondary Education and Psychology. He is also on the wrestling team. He has a lot of experience both in attending and leading youth ministry programs. He, along with other high schoolers, began a youth program for their needs. He also was involved in the Northern Iowa branch of Youth For Christ. In his leadership capacity, he organized and lead programs for elementary and middle school youth. To top it off, he spent this past summer working with pre-schoolers and their parents in Mason City. We are excited to have Ben in ministry with us and welcome him to First Church.  Rev. e-mail: houtsg@siouxlan.net Glen volunteers his time to head up our adult small group ministries. His full-time job is working for the State of Iowa in the "Welfare to Work" program. From 1999-2002, he was a Student Pastor at Danbury United Methodist Church. Glen has been married to Dora for 18 years. They have 4 children: Hannah (16), Buddy (15), Colin (8), and Kirk (5). In his "free" time, Glen is very active in the Boy Scouts and enjoys spending time with his family through camping, bicycling, hunting, music or being one of the main "Roadies" for the Rockestra Junior.
 Mary Vondrak, Office Manager e-mail: scfirst@msn.com Mary has been managing our office here at First UMC since 2001. Previous to this she ran the Morningside True Value Store with her husband of 18 years, Bill. Mary is the mother of 4 children and enjoys golf, scrapbooking, camping, and taking care of her kids.
